The question I get most from businesses in Heerlen, Maastricht and the rest of Limburg is about the price of a website. An honest answer starts with: it depends. But on a limited number of things. I list them below.
1. How many pages, and what is on them
A site with five pages is less work than a site with twenty. More important is what needs to happen on those pages. A page with copy and images is quick to build. A page with a calculator, a booking system or a filter takes more.
2. Whether there is already a brand
If you already have a logo, colours and typefaces, I build on those. If there is nothing yet, the project starts with the brand. That is more work, but it prevents ending up with a website that does not fit your print or packaging.
3. Copy and images
Good copy and photos make more difference than any design. If you supply them yourself, that saves time. If they still need to be made, I include that in the schedule. Copy does not need to be finished at the start. An idea of what you want to say is enough.
4. Website or webshop
A webshop asks for more than a website: product pages, payments, shipping, emails and often filters to find products. The larger the range and the more variants, the more work. Selling across the border, to Germany or Belgium, also needs its own settings.
5. Integrations
Does the site need to talk to your accounting, a calendar, a stock system or a mailing tool? Every integration is custom work. Sometimes it is a small setting, sometimes a project of its own.
6. What happens after launch
A website is not finished on the day it goes live. It has to be hosted, updated and secured. You can arrange that yourself or leave it with someone. With me, hosting starts at € 35 per month, excluding VAT. What maintenance and changes cost depends on your site. You get a fixed monthly amount up front.
How you get a fixed price
I do not bill hours afterwards. After a half-hour conversation, at your place or by video, I know enough to make a proposal with a fixed price and a schedule. That way you know up front what it costs and when it will be done.
