Striker Performance in Kerkrade does chip tuning and makes custom downpipes, for BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen among others. When they came to me, the question was clear. The webshop had to sell parts. At the same time it had to show that the work in the workshop is right.
Those are two different goals. A visitor looking for a downpipe wants to find the right part quickly. A visitor who is unsure about tuning wants trust first. In this piece I show the choices I made for that.
One accent colour, only where you can act
The design is black, with wide capitals and one bright orange accent. That orange is not everywhere. It sits on buttons, prices and the places where you click through. Within a few seconds a visitor learns that orange means “you can do something here”.
Black suits the sector. It also makes chrome, carbon and welded steel stand out in photos. A light background would have made those products look flatter.
Photos from their own workshop
You see stock photos of shiny cars on every tuning site. Striker Performance has something others do not: its own workshop where the downpipes are made. So that is where the images come from. You see what you buy and who works on it.
That makes the site more honest, and it helps sales. With a part that is made to measure, you want to know there are skilled people behind it.
Everything you want to know, in one line
A bar runs across the top of the site with the questions customers ask most: shipping, delivery time and tuning per stage. Nobody has to look for that information. It is on every page, without getting in the way of the products.
Built in WooCommerce
The webshop runs on WordPress with WooCommerce. Striker Performance manages its own products, stock and orders. Shipping is set up for the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, and worldwide on request. For a business in Kerkrade, with Germany a few kilometres away, that is not a luxury.
What I take from it
- Choose one accent colour and use it only for actions.
- Show what sets you apart, in this case the workshop.
- Put the answers to the most common questions where everyone sees them.
